Designer - In Vehicle (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan, with in-person reporting at least three times a week.

What you will do

• Design system-level in-vehicle digital experiences across charging, media, audio, passenger entertainment, and phone-based productivity.
• Lead complex end-to-end experiences spanning vehicle and mobile touchpoints.
• Translate ambiguous problem spaces into interaction models, scalable UI solutions, prototypes, animations, and mockups.
• Deliver production-ready designs aligned with design systems and provide specifications and assets to engineering.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, research, and design partners to validate decisions and ensure seamless implementation.
• Present work, participate in critiques, and contribute to informed design decisions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience designing digital interfaces for web, mobile, or in-vehicle platforms.
• Formal training or a degree in Interface Design, Visual Design, or a related discipline.
• Portfolio demonstrating UX expertise, interaction design, creativity, and depth of thought.
• Experience bringing digital products to market and working with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, along with strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future and must have appropriate U.S. work authorization.

Nice to have

• Prototyping experience involving software or hardware development.
• Experience creating high-quality renders and animations.
• Ability to apply technology to achieve design goals.
• Understanding of competitive digital and automotive experiences.
