Vehicle Mass Systems & Tools Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan, with reporting to the specific location at least three times per week. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits; relocation costs are the candidate's responsibility.

What you will do

• Own the global vehicle mass engineering toolchain, including NGVMC, GPDS, THERA, the Mass Book Tool, macros, and data pipelines.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain digital systems supporting mass engineers throughout the Global Vehicle Development Process.
• Define requirements and partner with IT to improve system reliability, data integrity, accessibility, and platform integration.
• Support TIE and VPO processes through mass target setting, regression modeling, architecture decisions, mass tracking, MOW management, certification workflows, and compliance reporting.
• Evaluate and implement AI, machine learning, analytics, and automation solutions for mass engineering workflows.
• Create training and process documentation, provide global tool support, drive user testing and continuous improvement, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in a related engineering field and 5+ years of experience modeling, developing, and validating vehicle mass.
• Programming or scripting experience with VBA, SQL, Python, or comparable languages applied to engineering workflows.
• Experience with AI, machine learning, data analytics, engineering tools, macros, and data systems.
• Knowledge of PPC, VDS, and MOW processes, including regression modeling for vehicle-level mass estimation.
• Strong analytical, communication, independent problem-solving, and large-scale data analysis skills.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers on mass systems and processes.
• Strong proficiency with NGVMC, GPDS, THERA, or the Mass Book Tool.
