Medical Laboratory Director

Location: Singapore; supports the Singapore and Tokyo laboratory sites.

What you will do

• Provide medical, scientific, and technical oversight of clinical laboratory testing operations.
• Ensure laboratory services, procedures, platforms, and methodologies comply with regulatory, accreditation, quality, and scientific standards.
• Review and approve validation plans, protocols, and reports for new assays and testing methodologies.
• Oversee investigations, corrective actions, proficiency testing, patient safety, quality, and data integrity issues.
• Collaborate with operations, quality assurance, scientific affairs, project management, sponsors, investigators, and other stakeholders.
• Support personnel recruitment and development, client meetings, audits, bid defenses, governance activities, and laboratory leadership initiatives.

Requirements

• MD and/or PhD in Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in clinical laboratory leadership, pathology, laboratory medicine, clinical research, or a related scientific environment.
• Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory testing, quality management systems, accreditation requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing multiple priorities, and making decisions in a regulated environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Professional ethics, scientific integrity, patient focus, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant laboratory systems.

Nice to have

• Current registration with the Singapore Medical Council.
• Board certification in Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Pathology, or a relevant specialist discipline.
• Training or experience in Anatomic Pathology.
• Experience with CAP, ISO 15189, CLIA, laboratory accreditation assessments, regulatory inspections, audits, or quality management systems.
• Experience in a central or reference laboratory, CRO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical trials environment.
