Localization Manager, Italian

Location: Milan, Italy, or within easy commuting distance

Salary: €55,000–€65,000 annual base pay, with potential bonus, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.

What you will do

• Own the localization strategy for the Italian market and adapt global product strategies to local needs.
• Partner with Country, Marketing, Legal, Operations, Policy, Communications, Community, and Supply leaders on market initiatives.
• Localize product naming and creative copy while protecting Airbnb’s Italian tone, style, voice, and cultural relevance.
• Lead localization quality improvement initiatives and hold translation and QA vendors accountable to quality standards.
• Develop linguistic and cultural guidelines, coordinate language feedback, and collaborate with Creative, Localization Program Management, and Linguistic QA teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in product localization, including localization strategy for international launches.
• Fluent English and native-level Italian are required.
• Experience developing market strategies based on market research and data analysis.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Understanding of UI/UX localization, placeholders, tags, smart counts, CAT tools, i18n libraries, CLDR standards, and LLM-based machine translation.
• Experience with project or program management and working across teams and time zones.
