Salary: $49,000–$68,330.50 annual base salary, commensurate with experience and potentially negotiable based on funding and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Act as the primary operator and technical lead for audio, video, lighting, presentation, and streaming systems at university and community events.
  • Design, configure, test, rehearse, and operate AV systems for meetings, ceremonies, performances, and other large-scale events.
  • Provide onsite troubleshooting, emergency response, signal routing, switching, control, and integration of laptops and external devices.
  • Maintain AV equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance, minor repairs, firmware updates, inventory tracking, and lifecycle planning.
  • Coordinate with university IT, Marketing & Communications, vendors, and service providers on complex setups, upgrades, warranties, and repairs.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student AV technicians while supporting event setups, strikes, facility readiness, safety checks, and building operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of professional audio, lighting, and video systems, including digital mixers, DMX lighting, projection systems, DSPs, and Crestron or Extron control.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot complex AV systems in live-event conditions, with working knowledge of IT and networking principles related to AV.
  • Customer service, communication, problem-solving, project management, multitasking, team leadership, and training skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, operate lift equipment safely, and work flexible or extended schedules outside normal operating hours.
