Research Scientist (Health and Safety Culture)

Location: hirify.global; ability to work independently in a remote working environment is required.

Salary: starting at $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop evidence-based content, resources, and implementation strategies for substance misuse prevention, parenting, child development, school readiness, and family engagement.
• Provide direct coaching support to parents and work with school staff to strengthen youth social and emotional skills.
• Support community stakeholders in promoting mental, emotional, and behavioral health practices.
• Develop resources supporting the Safe System Approach to traffic safety, including trauma-informed post-crash care and emotion regulation.
• Contribute to research proposals, projects, publications, conferences, presentations, webinars, training, and guide services.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers, students, communities, and organizations while helping promote the Center's work.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a related health and safety field, or a bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, school readiness, family engagement, parenting best practices, and social-emotional skill development.
• Extensive knowledge of behavior change strategies and familiarity with substance misuse prevention and traffic safety.
• Experience working directly with youth, parents, and schools, including group facilitation and one-on-one coaching.
• Experience developing evidence-based resources such as toolkits and action-oriented guidance documents.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills for academic and community audiences.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or Social Work.
• Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker credentials.
• Experience working in schools, with communities, youth, and parents, or with traffic safety professionals.
• Public speaking experience delivering training or research presentations.
