Principal Hydrogeologist (Mining)

Location: Remote in Canada, listed as CAN-BC-Remote; willingness to travel within Canada and internationally for short- to medium-term assignments is required.

Salary: $135,000–$185,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Support strategic growth and business development for mining hydrogeology services across Canada and globally.
• Design and interpret hydrogeological investigations, aquifer testing, baseline water assessments, and feasibility or environmental impact studies.
• Develop dewatering, depressurization, groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and integrated water balance models using tools such as FEFLOW, MODFLOW, MIKE SHE, and GoldSim.
• Lead groundwater recovery, pit lake, seepage control, contaminant attenuation, and water-quality risk studies for mine closure and post-closure.
• Provide technical direction, peer review, QA/QC, project oversight, and mentorship across hydrogeological teams.
• Engage mining clients, Indigenous communities, regulators, and partner firms, including providing expert input during permitting hearings and consultations.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or a related geoscience discipline.
• Licensed P.Geo. or P.Eng. in Ontario; additional registration in BC, AB, YT, NT, or SK is an asset.
• 25+ years of hydrogeological experience, including at least 15 years in mining hydrogeology.
• Leadership experience across exploration, baseline assessment, development, operations, closure, and post-closure.
• Experience winning and delivering multi-million-dollar mining and water-management projects.
• Valid Class G driver’s license or equivalent, strong technical communication skills, and a commitment to mentoring.
