TL;DR
Tooling Supervisor (Automotive Manufacturing): Supervising tool and die makers and trainees while coordinating tooling issues, tool build projects, and stamping-process improvements with an accent on reliability, quality, safety, and production efficiency. Focus on resolving tooling and manufacturing problems, guiding vendors and contractors, and meeting engineering change, build schedule, and production requirements.
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan, United States. Onsite, second shift from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with overtime as needed.

What you will do
- Supervise and coordinate Tool and Die Makers and trainees, including training employees in the tool and die trade.
- Communicate and prioritize daily tooling issues to maximize press room productivity and machine utilization.
- Participate in tool and product design to improve reliability, quality, safety, productivity, and manufacturing costs.
- Lead tooling selection, approval, development, build projects, engineering changes, and schedule tracking.
- Coordinate with tool vendors, manufacturers, contractors, job shops, customers, and engineering teams on tooling performance and design matters.
- Pursue stamping-process quality improvements and evaluate new manufacturing technologies and opportunities.
Requirements
- Journeyman Tool and Die Card through the Department of Labor.
- Previous experience supervising skilled trades and training employees in the tool and die trade.
- Previous experience working as a tool and die maker in a metals plant.
- Experience with progressive and transfer dies.
- Solid leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain good customer rapport.
- Must be able to meet the requirements to work in the United States under INS Form I-9.
