What you will do

  • Stand navigational watch and safely operate a high-speed craft on ocean routes.
  • Plan voyages and operate radar, ARPA, ECDIS, and other bridge navigation systems.
  • Supervise up to four Able Seamen during watches and deck evolutions.
  • Direct mooring, anchoring, towing, RHIB launch and recovery, cargo handling, replenishment, and flight deck support operations as applicable.
  • Maintain charts, publications, bridge logs, navigational records, and watch documentation.
  • Coordinate emergency response and work with the Master and engineering watch personnel during normal and casualty operations.

Requirements

  • USCG credential: Master of Self-Propelled Vessels Less than 1600 GRT Upon Oceans (Domestic) and 3000 GT ITC Upon Oceans.
  • STCW BT, AFF, Lifeboatman, BRM, ECDIS, Radar Observer Unlimited, and ARPA certifications.
  • GMDSS Radio Operator License and FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit.
  • U.S. Navy Naval X-Craft HSC Type Rating (Master), or ability to obtain it within 60 days after vessel availability.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of COLREGS, high-speed craft operations, bridge resource management, maritime safety, leadership, and emergency response.
