What you will do

• Perform routine deck operations for vessel departures, arrivals, mooring, and boat handling.
• Operate and maintain deck machinery, including winches and hoists.
• Inspect, maintain, and secure cargo according to load restrictions and damage-prevention requirements.
• Maintain ship surfaces through rust removal, scaling, painting, and related work.
• Stand navigational watch, monitor for hazards and navigational aids, and complete engineering rounds while underway.
• Participate in fire, abandon-ship, man-overboard, and damage-control drills.

Requirements

• Merchant Mariner Credential and National Able Seafarer (AB) Special Deck Rating required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
• STCW Basic Training, Basic Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities, CPR, Basic First Aid, Advanced Fire Fighting, and Lifeboatman certifications required.
• High Speed Craft Qualification required.
• Proficiency in seamanship, knot tying, line handling, and basic navigation tools such as radar, GPS, and charts.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions, including heavy lifting and long hours.

Nice to have

• Certificate of completion from a USCG- or DOD-approved facility for the U.S. Navy Naval X-Craft High Speed Craft Type Rating Program, including Assistant Type Rating Instructor for Deck Machinery.
• Ability to obtain the required high-speed craft qualification within 60 days after vessel availability.
