Senior Network Engineer (Networking)

What you will do

• Lead network architecture and design for firewalls, switching, routing, segmentation, and WAN connectivity across multiple sites.
• Drive infrastructure modernization projects, including core switching upgrades and firewall deployments.
• Own network operations, including troubleshooting, capacity planning, change management, incident response, and postmortem documentation.
• Manage FortiGate firewall platforms, including policy management, VPN, SD-WAN, and security posture.
• Operate and improve monitoring and alerting with tools such as Zabbix and Prometheus/Grafana, while maintaining documentation and IP address management in NetBox.
• Mentor a network engineer and collaborate with systems, platform, software operations, and architecture teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience.
• Strong experience with FortiGate/FortiOS or equivalent next-generation firewall platforms.
• Deep knowledge of L2/L3 networking, including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VLANs, spanning tree, LACP, and network segmentation.
• Experience designing and operating multi-site WAN and LAN environments.
• Proficiency with network monitoring and observability tools, plus strong network documentation practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience; demonstrated mentoring ability is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with NetBox, Microsoft Azure networking, zero-trust networking, or overlay networks.
• Exposure to Ansible, Terraform, Python scripting, Linux infrastructure, or Extreme Networks Fabric Engine.
• Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial OT/IT networks.
• Familiarity with AV-over-IP and networked audio/video protocols such as Dante and AES67.
• Relevant certifications such as Fortinet NSE, CCNP, or JNCIP.

Hiring process

• First 30 days: learn the network topology and active projects, build relationships, and pair with the existing network engineer.
• First 60 days: take ownership of network operations and contribute recommendations to modernization and architecture work.
• First 90 days: own the network function, lead planning and implementation, and mentor the network engineer.
