Environmental Specialist (Oil & Gas)

Location: Field-based in Andrews, Texas, with coordination between field operations and the Houston office

What you will do

• Coordinate environmental technical support for field operations, engineering, and regulatory personnel.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, authorizations, agreements, and applicable waste management requirements.
• Support project planning, remediation, soil and groundwater cleanup, and consultant management.
• Respond to active releases, coordinate spill response and cleanup, and participate in the emergency response team.
• Conduct routine air-permit compliance inspections and participate in external audits.
• Investigate accidents, recommend preventive measures and corrective actions, and develop environmental compliance tools and templates.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of related experience in an environmental specialist or compliance role, or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent job-related experience.
• Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and their applicability to operations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
• Experience with soil and groundwater sampling techniques and protocols, and the ability to collect air, water, and waste samples.
• Ability to interpret regulations, regulatory guidance, technical manuals, reports, correspondence, and company procedures; apply mathematics and statistics; and produce clear technical writing.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, communicate effectively, operate required tools and equipment, and remain available 24 hours per day for on-call questions and emergencies.
