TL;DR
Water Resources Engineer-in-Training (Stormwater): Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and developing drainage designs, models, reports, and construction documents for Texas communities with an accent on flood risk, stormwater infrastructure, and nature-based solutions. Focus on building H&H models, conducting field investigations, improving modeling workflows, and supporting quality control and client communications.

Location: Austin, San Antonio, or Corpus Christi, Texas, United States; hybrid schedule with up to 40% remote work

What you will do

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for open-channel, storm-sewer, detention, water-quality, and regional flood-planning projects.
  • Contribute to drainage master plans, capital improvement programs, and drainage impact analyses.
  • Conduct field investigations and collect data to support engineering models and design development.
  • Prepare technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates under the guidance of licensed engineers.
  • Improve modeling workflows, design efficiency, quality processes, and project delivery.
  • Support client meetings, quality-control reviews, technical coordination, and guidance for junior staff.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • At least 3 years of relevant stormwater or water resources experience.
  • Experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Initiative and willingness to learn.

Nice to have

  • Experience with HEC-RAS 2D, XP-SWMM, or InfoWorks.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager certification.
  • Programming or scripting experience, such as Python, for data analysis, model automation, workflow automation, or result visualization.
  • Familiarity with Texas municipal drainage criteria.
