Commercial Title Underwriter (Renewables)

Salary: $97,700–$130,300 annually

What you will do

• Provide underwriting support and authorization for the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
• Review title searches, property records, legal descriptions, vesting, encumbrances, leases, easements, mineral rights, access rights, surveys, and site control documents.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve title issues affecting the development, financing, acquisition, construction, operation, or transfer of energy assets.
• Support transactions involving solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, utility-scale development, distributed generation, and multi-site portfolios.
• Review and approve deeds, leases, easements, operating agreements, resolutions, affidavits, curative documents, and other transaction instruments.
• Coordinate with title, escrow, legal, customer, and outside counsel teams to resolve requirements and move transactions through closing.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of title underwriting experience; commercial experience is preferred.
• Experience with title transactions involving energy, renewable energy, utilities, land acquisition, project finance, energy infrastructure, or large multi-site portfolios.
• Strong understanding of title insurance concepts, commitments, policies, endorsements, exceptions, and closing requirements.
• Ability to analyze complex property records, research land rights and ownership, identify title issues, and support practical resolutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with customers, underwriting partners, escrow professionals, internal teams, and outside counsel.
• High school diploma or equivalent; proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to new software.

Nice to have

• Renewable energy transaction experience, particularly with utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, transmission, project finance, land acquisition, or energy infrastructure.
• Experience guiding and sharing knowledge with others in the title insurance field.
