What you will do
- Lead a team handling complex employee relations matters across union and non-union operations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on California employment law, company policies, labor agreements, and risk-conscious decision-making.
- Oversee sensitive investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, accommodations, and policy violations.
- Implement intake, triage, escalation, investigation, and case management processes within a centralized Employee Relations model.
- Analyze case trends and workforce risks to recommend proactive interventions and continuous improvements.
- Partner with Legal on high-risk matters, agency charges, claims, and litigation support, while training HR partners and leaders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive HR or employee relations experience, including 5+ years leading complex matters and workplace investigations.
- Experience supporting employee relations in both union and non-union environments.
- Deep knowledge of California employment laws and employee relations practices.
- Strong investigation, conflict resolution, interviewing, documentation, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
Nice to have
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification.
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, transportation, logistics, or other operational workforce environments.
- Experience implementing employee relations programs, shared-service models, case management systems, reporting tools, and workforce analytics.
