TL;DR
Transportation Planner (Transportation Planning/Traffic Engineering): Leading multimodal transportation planning and traffic engineering projects across Central Texas with an accent on project delivery, public engagement, and client development. Focus on managing schedules, budgets, technical analyses, stakeholder presentations, and mentoring junior engineers.
Location: Austin or San Antonio, Texas, United States; hybrid schedule with up to 40% remote work

What you will do
- Lead transportation planning and traffic engineering projects, managing client communication, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and quality.
- Perform and support multimodal planning, corridor studies, traffic analyses, access management, parking, active transportation, and roadway design guidance.
- Prepare reports, technical memoranda, presentations, and visual materials that communicate project results.
- Facilitate public meetings, workshops, and presentations for city councils, municipalities, counties, TxDOT, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and help develop the next generation of transportation professionals.
- Support business development, proposal preparation, client relationships, and expansion of the transportation practice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering, traffic engineering, or a related field.
- AICP certification.
- At least 6 years of experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering, including at least 2 years in project management.
- Experience with multimodal planning, corridor or special-area studies, access management, parking, active transportation, operational analysis, traffic studies, and design support.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and traffic or transportation modeling tools such as Synchro or VISSIM; GIS and GIS mapping experience is preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in transportation planning, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Consulting or municipal/DOT experience, including familiarity with TxDOT processes and design requirements.
- PE license.
- Experience in marketing, client development, and proposal preparation.
