Design Associate

Location: Richmond, VA, United States; requires working in the showroom and store, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Compensation: $15 per hour during 2–6 weeks of training; after training, $11 per hour base pay plus uncapped commission and bonuses. Average annual earning potential is $45,000–$65,000+.

What you will do

• Sell furniture, accessories, services, and design programs while contributing to store sales goals.
• Guide customers through premium consultations, needs discovery, portfolio presentations, objections, closing, follow-up, and after-sale service.
• Schedule and conduct professional home consultations with customized room, fabric, furniture, table, and accessory recommendations.
• Provide customer support through phone, email, Podium follow-up, issue resolution, order processing, deposits, payments, and delivery scheduling.
• Maintain showroom displays, product tags, catalogs, design-center fabrics, store cleanliness, and daily operational records.
• Support peers through product and selling-process training and assist with opening and closing the store.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous selling experience and the ability to close sales are strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, persuasion, negotiation, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others, meet assigned goals, manage conflicting priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, pass a background and drug screen, and meet applicable driver-program requirements if travel or driving is needed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• Luxury sales or retail experience.
