Damage Prevention Technician I - Fort Wayne, IN

Location: Field-based in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area; candidates must reside within 30 minutes of the Fort Wayne metro area.

Salary: $16.25–$25.00 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Analyze blueprints to determine construction project locations.
• Locate, map, and mark underground fiber optic cables and utilities using paint and flags.
• Measure and pinpoint utility coordinates with electrical, magnetic, GPS, surveying, and radar techniques.
• Document site information, utility locations, and client interactions in company software.
• Inspect cabinets, buried cables, construction sites, and outdoor facilities in varied weather and environmental conditions.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, network assets, vehicle materials, site security, and job-site cleanliness.

Requirements

• 0–1+ years of relevant experience in utility locating, fiber optic cable builds, or field construction.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer, mobile phone, test equipment, Microsoft Windows, and Office proficiency.
• Must have a cell phone and a state-issued driver license for the state of residence.
• Must maintain eligibility to operate a company vehicle, with no more than two moving violations in the past three years.
• Ability to work a rotating 24/7/365 on-call schedule, including standby, call-outs, dispatch, overtime, and occasional travel; regularly lift up to 100 pounds.
