Senior Project Manager (Construction)

Location: Onsite campus-based role in the United States; requires periodic project inspections and access to construction areas, including roofs, scaffolds, tunnels, and confined spaces.

Salary: $53.37 per hour

What you will do

• Manage, coach, and mentor project managers and project coordinators.
• Track workloads and project assignments while coordinating priorities across University Facilities Management.
• Manage construction projects across scope, schedule, budget, risk, design, and compliance requirements.
• Build relationships with campus clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Draft, review, and interpret construction and consultant agreements, drawings, specifications, claims, and change orders.
• Conduct project inspections, monitor contract performance, communicate policies and procedures, and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, planning, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience managing direct-report personnel in a team-oriented environment.
• Significant construction project management experience involving design, construction, and contract management.
• Knowledge of project design phases, construction methods and standards, contract administration and enforcement, and sustainability.
• Strong communication skills for explaining detailed information to employees, campus stakeholders, contractors, and the public.
• Ability to read and provide feedback on construction drawings, specifications, building codes, and public policies; successful completion of a background check is required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or professional licensure in construction management, architecture, engineering, planning, or a related field.
• Formal education in management or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a university or similar institution with multiple simultaneous projects and large stakeholder groups.
