TL;DR
Engineering Project Team Lead (Machine Controls): Architecting and developing machine and vehicle control systems for next-generation rigid frame trucks with an accent on functional safety, electronics integration, and system validation. Focus on evaluating safety concepts, validating SIL/HIL and proving-ground systems, and coordinating cross-functional engineering teams for collision mitigation and autonomous operation solutions.
Location: Tucson, Arizona, United States; onsite five days a week. The role includes approximately 10% travel. Domestic relocation assistance is available.
Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year

What you will do
- Lead machine- and vehicle-level controls development for rigid frame trucks in collaboration with engineering, electronics, software, product support, and compliance teams.
- Architect control systems and influence machine architecture, product strategy, Multi-Generation Product Planning, and New Technology Introduction initiatives.
- Develop and evaluate functional safety concepts and SISTEMA calculations for new product introduction programs.
- Support collision mitigation, autonomous operation, and other solution-layer systems added to base machines.
- Coordinate validation of control systems and functional safety concepts through SIL, HIL, and proving-ground testing.
- Review production software changes, perform functional safety impact analyses, and support verification, validation, and issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent education.
- Deep expertise in machine controls, electronic systems integration, software development, and functional safety processes.
- Experience developing, tuning, and validating machine- or vehicle-level controls software.
- Experience conducting functional safety assessments and using machine data, simulation tools, performance analytics, or data acquisition systems.
- Team leadership, project management, communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills.
- Visa sponsorship, international assignments, and payroll transfers are not available.
Nice to have
- Experience with large mining trucks or quarry trucks and knowledge of worldwide applications.
- Experience with functional safety evaluations across product programs.
