TL;DR
Civil/Environmental Design Engineer (Solid Waste and Environmental Permitting): Developing permit documents, construction plans, specifications, environmental assessments, and remediation designs for solid waste and industrial facilities with an accent on regulatory compliance, construction quality assurance, and project financial management. Focus on preparing RCRA and CERCLA cleanup documentation, SWPPPs and SPCC Plans, conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, and leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Location: USA-TN-Nashville office; remote candidates will be considered, with preference for the Southeast region.

Salary: $125,000–$165,000 annually, plus an annual bonus based on experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

  • Lead multiple civil and environmental projects while supervising engineers, technicians, and CAD professionals.
  • Prepare solid waste facility permit documents, construction plans, and specifications for landfills, recycling facilities, transfer stations, and convenience centers.
  • Prepare industrial Part B permit applications and documentation for Voluntary, RCRA, and CERCLA remediation projects.
  • Direct construction quality assurance activities and prepare SWPPPs, SPCC Plans, and ARAP Applications.
  • Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments and prepare construction cost and financial assurance estimates.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, invoicing, deliverables, client relationships, and technical staff coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 5–10 years of related experience and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and experience with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • Ability to complete and maintain the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and annual 8-hour refresher training.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, delegation, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to mentor colleagues, manage multiple priorities, and maintain effective working relationships.
