What you will do
- Design and deliver distributed storage, indexing, and query systems for S3 Tables.
- Build reliable, cost-effective data ingestion systems compatible with source systems and popular analytics engines.
- Improve query performance through intelligent partitioning and indexing strategies.
- Prototype technologies, evaluate technical feasibility, and deliver maintainable, extensible code.
- Collaborate with AWS teams, partners, and the Apache Iceberg community on open table formats.
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software at massive scale.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience outside internships.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one programming language.
- 5+ years of leading system design or architecture, including reliability and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead.
- 2+ years of experience with Rust.
- Experience with Apache Iceberg.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years covering the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
- Apache Iceberg committer or PMC member status.
