Archaeological Technician

Location: Asheville, North Carolina; candidates must live within commuting distance of the office. The role requires travel, long-distance walking, physically demanding work, and possible overtime or extended workdays and workweeks.

Salary: USD $26.00–$28.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Conduct archaeological surveys, testing, data recovery, and monitoring.
• Maintain the quality of archaeological fieldwork, data, and documentation.
• Process artifacts and perform preliminary artifact analysis.
• Prepare artifacts for curation and assist with report production.
• Complete scanning, data entry, equipment maintenance, and other laboratory and office tasks.
• Coordinate with field supervisors and follow project, safety, and company requirements.

Requirements

• Completed BA degree in anthropology or archaeology.
• Ability to think critically and creatively and maintain a strong commitment to quality and safety.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check.
• Ability to work in steep terrain, heat, cold, and other varying environmental conditions.
• Successful completion of a background check and drug screen; three professional references with contact information must be included with the resume.
