Sourcing Lead, Corporate Development (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; hybrid, with staff expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Build and maintain a structured pipeline of acquisition targets, strategic investments, and partnership opportunities.
• Work with product, engineering, research, and go-to-market teams to translate strategic priorities into sourcing criteria and target profiles.
• Evaluate target companies across competitive positioning, technical differentiation, team quality, strategic fit, and alignment with the product and research roadmap.
• Prepare investment memos, strategic briefings, financial models, benchmarking analyses, and valuation frameworks for senior review.
• Develop relationships with founders, investors, operators, cloud providers, and enterprise customers across the AI ecosystem.
• Support due diligence, transaction execution, market mapping, competitive monitoring, and internal knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

• Strong technical understanding gained through software engineering, product management, investing, or a relevant academic background.
• Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and financial modeling skills.
• Experience with or exposure to M&A, strategic transactions, partnership development, investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, or strategy consulting in technology sectors.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for senior stakeholders.
• Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with competing priorities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience, plus a deep interest in AI safety and alignment with Anthropic’s mission.

Nice to have

• 6–8 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, or strategy consulting.
• Direct experience with AI/ML companies or deep learning research environments.
• An established network in the AI startup and venture capital ecosystem.
• MBA or advanced technical degree, with experience producing market maps, competitive landscapes, or sector deep-dives.
• Strong interest in AI capabilities, safety research, and competitive dynamics.
