Director, Competitive Search (Financial Services)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid arrangement with 1–3 days per week onsite at 181 Bay St.

What you will do

• Develop and execute a national competitive search strategy for attracting experienced Financial Advisors from competitor firms and the broader financial services market.
• Build and maintain talent maps, target lists, dashboards, and candidate pipelines across Canada.
• Lead full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, outreach, offer negotiation, onboarding, and engagement of passive candidates.
• Advise senior business leaders and Talent Acquisition stakeholders on market trends, talent availability, compensation benchmarks, and competitive positioning.
• Coach and develop two Senior Consultants while tracking recruitment metrics and improving sourcing operations through ATS, CRM, and analytics tools.
• Partner with business and Human Resources leaders to strengthen advisor onboarding, early-tenure engagement, productivity, and retention.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of the Canadian financial advisory and wealth management landscape, including compensation models, books of business, team structures, succession, transitions, and competitive dynamics.
• Established relationships with financial advisors and experience engaging passive, high-performing candidates.
• Strong negotiation, closing, communication, judgment, discretion, and resilience skills.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in talent acquisition, executive or competitive search, and financial services; recruiting Financial Advisors or advisor teams is an asset.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and hold a valid work or study permit where applicable.

Nice to have

• Direct experience recruiting Financial Advisors or advisor teams in a highly competitive market.
• Experience with CIRO requirements and securities licensing.
