Station Electrician C-A (Pharr, TX)

Location: Pharr, TX; on-site. Must reside within 30 miles of the service location. Travel is expected more than 50% of the time, with overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work as required.

Salary: $34.96–$37.28 per hour

What you will do

• Construct, maintain, rebuild, remove, operate, test, and inspect generation, transmission, and distribution facilities.
• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts and assist with higher-voltage equipment under direct supervision after six months in classification.
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and test transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, batteries, and related station equipment.
• Install conduit, pipe, cable, wire, barriers, safety signs, and other station infrastructure; climb structures and perform physical site work.
• Support station switching, equipment clearances, grounding, oil handling, transformer testing, and emergency restoration activities.
• Operate vehicles, cranes, aerial lifts, generators, pumps, hand tools, and power tools; maintain records and participate in training.

Requirements

• Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance technology, or equivalent qualifying education and experience.
• No previous work experience is required; qualifying alternatives include relevant military technical experience or recent Station Electrician experience with a utility or contractor.
• Ability to interpret prints, drawings, instruction manuals, one-line diagrams, and related technical documents.
• Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license before the end of the designated probationary period.
• Must successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test and meet heavy-work, climbing, lifting, color-discrimination, and aerial-lift requirements.
• Knowledge of steel and aerial-lift rescue, station-work knots, safety procedures, resuscitation, and first aid.
