Senior Scientist, Organic Synthesis (Organic Chemistry): Developing novel organic synthesis solutions and scalable manufacturing processes from laboratory experiments through pilot and production scale-up with an accent on reaction design, process optimization, and technology transfer. Focus on troubleshooting complex reaction challenges, analyzing organic chemistry data, and driving improvements in safety, efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
Location: Hangzhou, China; onsite role

What you will do
- Lead strategic innovation projects and develop novel chemical synthesis solutions.
- Design, execute, and evaluate organic synthesis experiments from laboratory scale through pilot and production scale-up.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes using available technologies, scientific expertise, and operational resources.
- Troubleshoot reaction and process challenges during production and scale-up activities.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to support successful technology transfer.
- Analyze competitor and technology landscapes while providing technical support for existing and new products and driving improvements in safety, efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- At least 5 years of industrial R&D experience in organic synthesis or a related field.
- Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanism analysis.
- Hands-on experience with GC, GC-MS, and NMR.
- Ability to independently design experiments, analyze data, solve complex technical challenges, and manage multiple priorities.
- Fluent English communication skills in written and verbal communication.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of chemical engineering principles and process development.
- Experience with manufacturing scale-up and commercial production environments.
- Experience in flavors, fragrances, specialty chemicals, fine chemicals, or related industries.
- Patents, publications, or successful commercialization projects.
