Inpatient Financial Clearance Representative I (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Lowell General Hospital, 55 Technology Drive, Lowell, Massachusetts; remote flexibility may be available at the manager's discretion after training. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM EST.

Salary: $21.53–$26.91 per hour for full-time employment.

What you will do

• Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, benefits, and coordination of benefits for urgent inpatient and observation admissions.
• Submit timely payer notifications by phone, fax, or payer portals, including Medicaid birth notifications when applicable.
• Enter and maintain financial, insurance, eligibility, notification, and documentation data in hospital systems.
• Identify non-covered services and financial-risk concerns, escalating them to Financial Counseling and department leadership.
• Monitor work queues, denied claims, and at-risk accounts; support timely resolution and appeals.
• Coordinate with Case Management, Admitting, clinical teams, supervisors, and managers regarding level-of-care changes and account status.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in a hospital, physician, or financial setting.
• Working knowledge of computer systems and basic Excel and reporting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication, patient-service focus, organization, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while adapting to changing workflows and priorities.
• Ability to work onsite in Lowell, Massachusetts during the specified EST schedule.

Nice to have

• Three years of experience in a hospital, physician, or financial setting.
