TL;DR
Senior Operational Energy Financial Analyst/Manager (Defense Energy): Leading financial oversight and funding execution for more than 100 Department of Defense operational energy innovation projects with an accent on MIPR management, financial compliance, and budget strategy. Focus on analyzing obligation and expenditure trends, developing recommendations for senior leaders, and shaping classified energy policy across space, cyber, and multi-domain programs.

Location: Primarily remote in the United States, with periodic travel to the Pentagon, Mark Center, and program sites in Arlington, Virginia; 10–20% travel may include domestic and occasional international travel.

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead financial oversight of more than 100 operational energy innovation projects across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.
  • Manage end-to-end MIPR funding processes, including documentation, tracking, compliance, and reporting.
  • Monitor project execution, obligations, expenditures, and financial discrepancies.
  • Develop budget strategies and technical recommendations for space, cyber, nuclear, and multi-domain energy programs.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for senior Department of Defense leaders.
  • Contribute to energy strategy and policy documents, including materials with classified annexes.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • 11–15 years of experience in financial management, technical analysis, or defense acquisition support.
  • At least five years of experience with MIPR scheduling and DAI DoW financial systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD Form 7600 series and DoD 7000.14-R Financial Management Regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with OSD-level program offices, space or nuclear energy initiatives, or operational energy portfolios.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition, budgeting, and strategic planning processes.
