Senior General Ledger Accountant

Location: Chicago, IL

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 annually, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Own accrued expenses, AP aging reviews, contractor payments through Deel, and related reconciliations and journal entries.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalized software, software-in-development, depreciation, and amortization schedules.
• Account for available-for-sale securities, including reconciliations, mark-to-market adjustments, unrealized gains and losses, and account transfers.
• Prepare audit schedules, roll-forwards, and organized supporting documentation for external auditors and advisors.
• Supervise, coach, and review the work of a GL Accountant across cash, fixed assets, intercompany clearing, and expense reports.
• Improve close processes and use NetSuite functionality, CSV import templates, and automation tools to strengthen data flow and accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close, accruals, AP/vendor accounting, and fixed assets with capitalized software.
• Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP and strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Ability to manage multiple close deadlines independently, apply sound accounting judgment, and resolve analytical issues.
• Experience communicating cross-functionally and coaching or reviewing the work of a direct report.
• CPA certification or active CPA pursuit is preferred but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Deel or similar contractor payment platforms.
• Familiarity with capitalized software accounting under ASC 350-40.
• Experience mentoring junior accounting staff.
