Backend Developer Intern (AI)

Location: Hybrid in the NYC tri-state area, with in-office attendance at least once weekly

Salary: $17–$19 per hour

What you will do

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services using Java and AI agents.
• Implement new features from design through deployment.
• Prototype and iterate on product ideas with AI tooling.
• Collaborate with other teams on features and releases.
• Prepare documentation, training materials, and system support resources.

Requirements

• Based in the NYC tri-state area.
• Available for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
• At least one year of experience building backend solutions with Java.
• Hands-on experience using AI agents such as Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools to build, debug, and improve software.
• Experience with LLMs, AI agent frameworks, or AI-assisted product development.
• Comfort integrating third-party APIs and collaborating with team members.

• Experience applying AI tools to real engineering challenges.
• Creative problem-solving and strong communication skills.
