On-call Senior Archaeologist

What you will do

• Manage and directly supervise archaeological field and historic preservation projects, from local surveys to large, multi-year energy projects.
• Lead fieldwork, research designs, work plans, schedules, analyses, and technical reporting.
• Support marketing, proposal development, budgeting, and client coordination.
• Conduct regulatory and tribal consultation and coordinate with cultural resources and environmental staff.
• Maintain relationships with SHPO, THPOs, and federal, state, and municipal archaeological agencies across California and the western United States.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, architectural history, or historic preservation.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in California archaeology and/or architectural history.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations, environmental review, Section 106, CEQA, ARPA, and fieldwork authorization requirements.
• Experience working on federal and state lands and obtaining permits from agencies such as BLM, USFS, NPS, ACOE, BIA, BOR, and California State Parks.
• Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for the relevant discipline.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; successful background check and drug screen required.

Nice to have

• Experience in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, or Arizona.
• Digital data recordation and management experience.
