Senior Data Architect (Industrial IoT)

Location: Denver, CO, USA

Salary: $100,300–$160,500 USD annually, plus eligible variable compensation.

What you will do

• Define and own scalable, reliable, and highly available cloud-based data architectures.
• Lead architecture discussions with engineering, product, machine learning, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Design, build, and maintain production datastores for high-speed, high-volume industrial IoT and telematics data.
• Translate business and product requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Drive data reliability, performance tuning, partitioning, indexing, and data quality practices.
• Analyze data usage, propose architectural improvements, and mentor engineers through design and code reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of experience across data-tier design, development, and production support.
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture with strong enterprise architecture fundamentals.
• Experience leading data architecture in production cloud environments; Azure is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed, high-volume telematics or time-series data.
• Infrastructure as Code experience, preferably Terraform, and programming or scripting with Python, PowerShell, or T-SQL.
• Experience supporting AI/ML projects and knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance such as GDPR.
• Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL databases, data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, and data pipelines.
• Experience with microservices, cloud-native data platforms, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
