Electrical and Controls Plant Technician

Location: Lima, Ohio, United States; onsite at the Lima plant. Rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule, including days and nights. Relocation is generally not paid.

Starting pay: $38.07 per hour

What you will do

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed packing, process, utilities power, and controls equipment.
• Act as a system or equipment owner for the assigned production area.
• Use electrical test equipment, schematics, and single-line drawings to diagnose and repair electrical and control issues.
• Troubleshoot, monitor, and program PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, as well as variable frequency drives, servo systems, and robotics.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment calibrations, and control-system trend analysis.
• Implement continuous improvement projects, reduce downtime and defects, and build technical skills in others.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education, plus a 2-year technical degree or certification in industrial electrical or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Practical knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, process instrumentation, machine control systems, variable frequency drives, servo drives, robotics, power distribution below 600V, control-system networking, and electrical safety.
• Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting, problem-solving, issue-resolution, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to use electrical troubleshooting tools, navigate PLC programs, and read electrical schematics and single-line drawings.
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rapid rotation schedule and to work at heights using required fall protection.
