General Ledger Manager (Accounting)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Lead and develop two Senior GL Accountants and an AP Specialist while reviewing work performed across the broader GL team.
• Own payroll journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accounting procedures, and payroll data coordination with People/HR and Payroll.
• Oversee accounts payable coding, vendor payouts, AP aging, reconciliations, and resolution of long-outstanding items.
• Perform monthly period-over-period and budget-to-actual flux analysis, including COGS and SG&A classification reviews.
• Prepare equity rollforward schedules and coordinate with Legal, Tax, and external advisors on equity-related transactions.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation, support audits, and improve close processes and NetSuite workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close, payroll accounting, accounts payable, and expense classification.
• At least 2 years of direct management or supervision experience in accounting.
• Experience reviewing accounting work and providing constructive feedback.
• Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system and proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-volume, multi-entity, or multi-processor environments.
• CPA certification or active pursuit of a CPA.
