What you will do
- Develop and monitor budgets and operating plans for the Beef Center in coordination with livestock operations managers.
- Train and oversee employees in animal handling, husbandry, equipment operation, and facility care.
- Manage animal care, production, teaching, and research activities while maintaining regulatory compliance and accurate records.
- Maintain and improve facilities, pastures, equipment, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Support feed services by coordinating rations, processing commodities, and ensuring timely invoicing.
- Manage Red Angus, Beefmaster, and teaching herds, including breeding programs, production animal development, marketing, sales, and educational activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least five years of related experience.
- Large-animal handling experience and the ability to work with farm, laboratory, and technical equipment.
- Ability to perform molecular biology and genetic techniques, analyze data, write reports, and use applicable computer software for databases and statistical analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and the ability to work cooperatively.
- Ability to stand or sit at a workbench for extended periods and lift feed sacks up to 50 pounds and hay bales weighing 65–110 pounds.
