HV Testing Technician – Level 3 (Renewable Energy)

Location: San Diego, California, with work at remote job locations and travel required up to 75% of the time. The role includes outdoor and high-voltage field work, on-call availability, and work in extreme weather conditions. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $37.24–$46.54 per hour

What you will do

• Manage and perform testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and energized electrical work at substations and photovoltaic facilities.
• Lead site testing activities and supervise technicians and trainees, including ongoing training and certification.
• Commission relay, metering, generation, line-protection, control, and communication systems.
• Test transformers, circuit breakers, relays, meters, cables, switchgear, motors, generators, and related electrical equipment according to NETA standards.
• Perform power-quality, load, transformer, current-transformer, and circuit-breaker studies using specialized test equipment.
• Prepare and review complete test reports, develop safety procedures and standard operating procedures, and communicate with clients, vendors, and teammates.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Progress toward a C-10 contractor’s license or a Certified Electrical Worker Card.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the time and work at remote field locations in extreme weather conditions.
• Valid OSHA 30, NFPA 70E Safety Training, and Safety Trained Supervisor certifications.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, network and telemetry issues, relay and metering systems, and substation equipment.
• Effective written and verbal English communication, computer operation, system-testing application, organizational, driving, and on-call skills.
