CMP/Backlap Area Equipment Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota, USA; onsite at the manufacturing facility

Salary: $80,000–$128,000 per year

What you will do

• Monitor, sustain, and improve CMP and Backlap equipment and area processes, including AMAT Mirra, Disco, and Nitto tools.
• Develop troubleshooting expertise, identify root causes of equipment failures, and reduce tool downtime and process variability.
• Maintain preventive-maintenance frequencies, procedures, checklists, and controlled equipment documentation.
• Support equipment installations, testing, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and safe maintenance in hazardous environments.
• Work with OEMs, vendors, production, process engineering, and maintenance technicians to support equipment availability and spare-parts stocking.
• Monitor and resolve daily SPC issues while driving continuous-quality-improvement and cost-reduction projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or a related field.
• Knowledge of electronics and control systems, mechanics and robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and vacuum systems.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues, perform systematic troubleshooting, and use common hand tools.
• Understanding of SPC principles and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including SCBA or a respirator, in hazardous environments.
• Strong time management, prioritization, multitasking, procedural compliance, and independent-work skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AMAT Mira equipment, including Desica, Mesa, or OnTrak, and Disco backlap equipment.
• Project management experience.
• Additional knowledge of SPC.
