TL;DR
Energy Policy & Regulatory Manager (Energy Infrastructure): Monitoring and analyzing energy, utility, market, infrastructure, and regulatory developments affecting data center growth and operations with an accent on policy research, regulatory affairs, and advocacy support. Focus on evaluating regulatory risks and opportunities, preparing policy materials, and coordinating with utilities, regulators, policymakers, and internal business teams.

hirify.global develops and operates data center infrastructure, with this role supporting energy policy, regulatory, and advocacy efforts across North America.

What you will do

  • Monitor federal, state, provincial, regional, and local legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting data center development and operations.
  • Research energy, utility, infrastructure, wholesale and retail market, renewable energy, grid reliability, and sustainability issues.
  • Support advocacy initiatives by preparing policy position papers, briefings, presentations, comments, testimony, talking points, and stakeholder communications.
  • Engage with policymakers, regulators, utilities, industry associations, coalition partners, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate regulatory risks and opportunities related to development projects, utility initiatives, and energy procurement.
  • Provide reports, analysis, and strategic recommendations to business leaders and project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, energy, economics, environmental policy, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, government affairs, public affairs, utility regulation, energy markets, or a related field.
  • Experience working with utilities, regulators, government agencies, energy companies, trade associations, consulting firms, or related organizations.
  • Working knowledge of energy markets, utility regulation, energy infrastructure, renewable energy policy, and regulatory processes.
  • Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, writing, verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require and manage multiple priorities.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting regulatory proceedings, legislative initiatives, or energy policy advocacy.
  • Knowledge of wholesale energy markets, transmission policy, electric utility regulation, renewable energy policy, or energy procurement programs.
  • Familiarity with data centers, digital infrastructure, large commercial and industrial energy users, or infrastructure development.
  • Experience working with utility commissions, RTOs, ISOs, legislative bodies, or trade associations.
  • Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, or another relevant advanced degree.
