TL;DR

Location: Philipsburg, Montana, United States; frequent travel throughout Granite County and occasional travel throughout Montana. Work hours vary with community needs, including evenings and weekends.

Salary: $51,660 minimum with a bachelor's degree; $58,660 minimum with a master's degree. Starting salary depends on education and prior experience.

What you will do

  • Assess local community needs and develop, plan, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programs.
  • Lead programming in agriculture, natural resources, horticulture, and 4-H youth development, with secondary work in community vitality and family and consumer sciences.
  • Develop and evaluate the Granite County 4-H program, supporting positive youth development and volunteer engagement.
  • Build collaborative relationships with Extension staff, county commissioners, local organizations, agencies, and community groups.
  • Serve as Granite County Weed Coordinator and oversee the county Weed Management program.
  • Provide oversight of the Private Pesticide Applicator Education Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, natural resources, youth development, or a related field.
  • Ability to lead groups, assess community needs, and organize, teach, and evaluate effective programs.
  • Experience providing leadership for Extension programming involving youth, adults, and volunteers.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and eligibility to operate State of Montana and university vehicles.
  • A valid out-of-state driver's license must be replaced with a Montana driver's license within 60 days of hire.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree.
  • Extension experience or understanding of the Extension education model.
  • Knowledge of youth and adult learning principles and community-based education.
  • Experience facilitating groups, recruiting and training volunteers, and supporting volunteer professional development.
