TL;DR
Lead Engineer, Control Systems Engineering (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Designing, implementing, and optimizing automation systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations with an accent on PLC/HMI/SCADA, industrial networks, instrumentation, and connected manufacturing. Focus on leading capital projects, integrating MES and production data systems, commissioning complex automation solutions, and resolving controls and cybersecurity issues across manufacturing sites.

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States; onsite role with up to 20% domestic and international travel.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for advanced automation systems supporting global manufacturing operations.
  • Lead capital projects from business justification through commissioning, qualification, and acceptance testing.
  • Design, deploy, debug, and optimize PLC logic, HMI/SCADA interfaces, instrumentation, control networks, and automation hardware and software.
  • Implement connected manufacturing solutions including IIoT platforms, edge computing, historians, MES, AI/ML applications, and vision systems.
  • Integrate production data and workflows across Controls, MES, ERP, and Business Systems teams to improve real-time decision-making.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, production support, and global automation standards across sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of industrial automation and controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expert-level proficiency in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, variable frequency drives, and motion control.
  • Experience managing capital and automation projects, including scope, schedule, budget, stakeholder communication, and outage planning.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, electrical and pneumatic control systems, cabinet design, instrumentation, safety systems, and hazardous environments.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally; immigration-related sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Linx, PlantPAx, IEC 61131-3, and Ignition SCADA experience.
  • Critical Manufacturing MES integration and configuration experience.
  • Industrial networking with Stratix or Cisco switches and knowledge of ISA88, ISA99, and ISA95 standards.
  • SQL databases, ODBC connections, virtualization, Microsoft Defender, application whitelisting, and OT cyber-risk remediation experience.
