What you will do
- Oversee one-time acquisitions of print, electronic, streaming video, datasets, films, scores, and other library collection materials.
- Source vendors, prepare purchase requisitions, place orders, verify fulfillment, and resolve purchasing, shipping, quality, and cost issues.
- Manage collection acquisition information, fund assignments, invoices, credit card reconciliation, budgeting, and policy compliance.
- Analyze licensing requirements and university policies, including rights-holder research and digital media purchases for classroom use.
- Develop and update workflows and procedures while coordinating with collection strategy, assessment, cataloging, and digital media teams.
- Train Resource Acquisitions Specialist staff and provide work direction when the supervisor is unavailable.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with four years of procurement experience, or a bachelor’s degree with two years of procurement experience.
- Experience working with vendors, publishers, and acquisition methods.
- Knowledge of fund accounting, licensing, procurement practices, and the ability to learn specialized library software.
- Strong communication, customer service, organization, time management, judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States without requiring current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree and experience acquiring materials in libraries.
- Supervisory, work-direction, training, or staff-development experience.
- Experience purchasing library collection materials and using the Alma library service platform or vendor platforms.
- At least two years of experience in a role requiring excellent customer service skills.
