Digital Editor and Designer - Red Jacket (Digital Content/Sports Media): Creating and distributing text stories, graphics, photos, video clips, live streams, and social media content about San Diego high school football with an accent on real-time publishing, visual storytelling, and UX-focused content. Focus on editing unscripted game coverage, identifying compelling storylines under intense deadlines, and scaling high-interest content across digital platforms.
Location: San Diego, California, United States; hybrid. Availability is required every Friday night from mid-August through the Silver Pigskin Gala in December, with additional on-call availability for graphic and social media needs.
Compensation: $17.75 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level; part-time, approximately 10 hours per week.

What you will do
- Support Red Jacket content creators working on Friday-night high school football coverage.
- Create text stories, photos, graphics, breaking-news pieces, and social media elements related to San Diego high school football.
- Edit unscripted web content, montages, comedic clips, interviews, and football games.
- Use OBS for live streams, shows, and recordings, and administer live and curated content in real time.
- Distribute high-interest stories at scale with KUSI’s digital team and follow content guidelines.
- Develop compelling narratives aligned with the KUSI PPR brand across multiple platforms.
Requirements
- Experience developing and publishing content on digital and social platforms.
- Ability to create high-quality graphics using professional software and build webpages with platforms such as WordPress.
- Experience with new-media equipment including gimbals, phones, and microphones.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, copy-editing, communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Strong knowledge of football, social media, pop culture, and current events, with sound judgment about high school football news.
- Must be punctual, have a clean driving record, and be available every Friday night from August through December.
