Senior Accountant

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $75,000–$95,000 per year, plus eligible discretionary bonus targets of 10% cash and 10% restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Prepare and review investor reports, remittances, and accounting schedules for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and private investors.
• Own reconciliations across general ledger, custodial, clearing, principal and interest, escrow, and loan-level accounts.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Analyze servicing activity, remittance variances, servicing transfers, payoff transactions, and complex accounting exceptions.
• Maintain documentation and internal controls for investor, audit, regulatory, and public-company reporting.
• Use the Jack Henry sub-ledger system to support reporting, reconciliations, transaction processing, and process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in servicing, banking, financial services, or a public-company environment.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with investor reporting, custodial account reconciliations, remittances, and mortgage servicing accounting.
• Knowledge of mortgage servicing concepts, internal controls, audit support, regulatory compliance, and public-company reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting or mortgage servicing systems; U.S. employment eligibility verification is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, and private investor reporting requirements.
• CPA or CPA candidacy.
