Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite at 4575 Viewridge Ave

Salary: Starting at $35+ per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level

What you will do

• Produce daily original stories focused on San Diego’s Southern border with Mexico, including context, local impact, and solutions.
• Produce and host a weekly border-related show for the station’s CTV streaming app.
• Write original website articles and create vertical content for mobile and social platforms.
• Shoot, write, edit, and present news stories, vosots, and packages across broadcast and digital formats.
• Build sources on both sides of the border and collaborate with the assignment desk, producers, photographers, anchors, and guests.
• Attend community partnerships and maintain an active social media presence to promote stories and generate ideas.

Requirements

• B.A. or B.S. degree in journalism, communication, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of television news reporting experience in a medium to large market is preferred.
• Excellent writing, grammar, communication, time management, editing, and on-air presentation skills.
• Experience with Adobe Premiere, video cameras, and news photography.
• Ability to ad-lib, interact with anchors and guests, carry 25–30 pounds of equipment, and work flexible shifts, additional hours, days, and holidays.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, accept feedback, and uphold journalistic integrity and production standards.

Nice to have

• Fluent spoken and reading English and Spanish, with proficient Spanish writing.
