TL;DR
Equipment Engineer (High-Vacuum Systems): Maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving sputtering and other high-vacuum production equipment in a thin-film manufacturing environment with an accent on rapid failure response, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability. Focus on diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, leading root cause analysis, executing sustainable corrective actions, and sustaining at least 95% equipment uptime.
Location: Hollis, New Hampshire, United States. Onsite manufacturing-floor role supporting production across two shifts; evening and weekend availability may be required. Applicants must qualify as U.S. Persons under ITAR/EAR regulations.

What you will do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair sputtering and other high-vacuum production systems.
- Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance, repairs, component replacement, system rebuilds, and adjustments.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures.
- Plan and execute equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects targeting at least 95% uptime.
- Coordinate with Process Engineering to support process changes and align equipment capability with production requirements.
- Manage spare-parts availability, preventive maintenance programs, urgent production support, and safety-related maintenance activities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on equipment engineering or maintenance experience in manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on experience with high-vacuum systems, including leak detection, pumps, and deposition equipment.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience in production-critical, high-uptime environments requiring rapid response.
- Strong root cause analysis, problem-solving, mechanical aptitude, and proficiency with tools, instrumentation, and diagnostic equipment.
- U.S. Person status is required under ITAR/EAR regulations; evening and weekend availability may be required.
