What you will do

  • Answer emergent and administrative telephone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Receive and process emergency medical calls according to NAED protocol, providing pre-arrival instructions when appropriate.
  • Dispatch ambulances, first responder groups, personnel, and equipment as required.
  • Monitor computer-aided dispatch screens and unit availability.
  • Keep responders and external agencies updated through mobile data terminals, radio transmissions, and status notifications.
  • Conduct status checks, acknowledge radio messages, and support crew safety.

Requirements

  • Emergency Medical Dispatcher certificate.
  • CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator certification.
  • Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education.
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM.
  • Strong communication, active listening, computer, documentation, critical-thinking, multitasking, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

  • APCO Basic Tele-communicator certificate.
  • Medical Terminology course.
  • WHMIS course.
