What you will do
- Answer emergent and administrative telephone calls promptly and courteously.
- Receive and process emergency medical calls according to NAED protocol, providing pre-arrival instructions when appropriate.
- Dispatch ambulances, first responder groups, personnel, and equipment as required.
- Monitor computer-aided dispatch screens and unit availability.
- Keep responders and external agencies updated through mobile data terminals, radio transmissions, and status notifications.
- Conduct status checks, acknowledge radio messages, and support crew safety.
Requirements
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher certificate.
- CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator certification.
- Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.
- Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM.
- Strong communication, active listening, computer, documentation, critical-thinking, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
Nice to have
- APCO Basic Tele-communicator certificate.
- Medical Terminology course.
- WHMIS course.
