Skidsteer Operator (Earthwork)

What you will do

• Operate skid steers and other heavy equipment used for site and highway construction.
• Excavate, move, and grade earth and support construction, paving, and structural work.
• Follow company, OSHA, orientation, and project safety procedures.
• Inspect assigned equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and report defects or repair needs.
• Identify exposed underground and overhead utilities and coordinate trench protection requirements.
• Keep project supervisors informed of issues affecting construction tasks and company operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of construction equipment operating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles, operating hazards, and safety precautions.
• OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certification are required.
• Ability to read and understand grade stakes and site plans and apply practical mathematical concepts.
• Ability to communicate clearly, follow instructions, maintain reliable attendance, and work safely in changing conditions.
• Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.

Culture & Benefits

• Full-time work is generally scheduled for 8–12-hour days, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, evenings, and schedule changes.
• Travel is required as needed for construction projects.
• Work takes place around construction machinery, loud noise, variable terrain, and rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
