Location: Okanagan Campus, Kelowna, BC, Canada; onsite role
Salary: CAD 26.89–30.83 per hour

What you will do
- Provide daily husbandry, handling, restraint, health, behavior, welfare surveillance, food, water, clean housing, and enrichment for laboratory animals.
- Perform health checks, administer medications according to written instructions, record observations, and maintain animal data.
- Change cages, operate cage-washing and sterilization equipment, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility.
- Maintain facility equipment, monitor environmental conditions, and recommend adjustments to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Assist with biological sample collection, anesthesia, surgical and other procedures under direct supervision.
- Manage inventory, support CCAC recommendations and standards, respond to emergencies, and contribute to SOP and workflow improvements.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school or Grade 12 equivalent; up to six months of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform standard technical and husbandry procedures involving common laboratory animal species.
- Ability to operate and maintain instrumentation and equipment used in an animal facility.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Ability to meet repetitive physical requirements and lift up to 20 kg.
- Commitment to respecting diverse perspectives and developing knowledge and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Nice to have
- Registered Lab Animal Technician certification through CALAS/AALAS.
- Animal Health Technology degree.
