Assistant Branch Manager - 159th Street

Location: New York, NY (159th Street); regular in-person branch work

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Support the Branch Manager and oversee efficient branch, teller-unit, platform, and ancillary operations.
• Coach and supervise staff on sales techniques, product knowledge, customer service, transactions, policies, and procedures.
• Drive business development, deposit growth, product referrals, cross-selling, and assigned sales goals.
• Identify operational risks, maintain compliance controls, prepare reports, reconcile accounts, and support audits.
• Resolve complex client service issues and make transaction decisions within established authority limits.
• Assist with staffing decisions, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, staff meetings, and branch coverage.

Requirements

• Associate degree and 3–5 years of customer-facing retail or comparable banking experience; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of operations experience, preferably in banking.
• Strong customer service, sales, leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of branch operations, banking regulations, compliance procedures, and banking software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with comfort using technology, mobile services, and online banking.
• Flexible schedule availability, including weekends; ability to qualify as a New York State Notary Public. Mandatory training may involve occasional travel.
